Swedish Prison and Probation Service is hiring Duty Officer in Kristianstad

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

Kristianstad has a new remand facility with 120 places located in the new Justice Center block, and nearby there is a smaller older remand facility with 29 places. The workplace is equipped with a large staff gym, a staff restaurant with the option to purchase subsidized meals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Duty Officer, you will be responsible for security at the facility in consultation with the Prison Inspector. The Duty Officer will operationally lead and distribute the daily work and is the highest local operational decision-maker outside office hours under the supervision of the on-call prison manager.

The Duty Officer represents the employer and ensures that the management line is maintained throughout all staff.

The work is varied and often maintains a high pace. In the role of Duty Officer at the Kristianstad remand facility, you will anchor decisions made, communicate directly and clearly, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Furthermore, you will follow up on daily security work, be responsible for admissions and releases, conduct preliminary security assessments, etc. The Duty Officer also has a special operational responsibility in the event of incidents. The position is located at the Kristianstad Remand Facility, which includes both the newly built remand facility and the building known as Östra Kasern.

Work may occur at both workplaces.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with experience in leading staff or very good references that confirm your leadership abilities.

You are a clear, loyal, and service-oriented person with good judgment and a desire to develop yourself and your work. The job requires the ability to structure and plan the operations at the remand facility, to lead and support staff in their work in a stimulating and meaningful way, and to maintain a high dynamic security profile in daily operations.

Requirements

• Complete upper secondary school competence in the form of a final grade or high school diploma. Alternatively, other education combined with work experience that the employer finds relevant.
• You must have completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic training and training for Duty Officers. You must also have experience working within the authority.
• Experience in operational security work.
• You must be able to express yourself very well both verbally and in writing in Swedish.
• Good computer skills and strong administrative abilities.
• Driving license B.

Meritorious

• Training in OC and baton.
• Experience working with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's administrative support programs.
• Experience as a Duty Officer in remand operations.
